Already at a long distance you can see the white-painted concrete wall that surrounds Arne Jacobsen's functionalistic house in Charlottenlund. Arne Jacobsen designed this house in 1929, which afterwards became his private residence - and today it stands as another great memory of the world-famous architect. I visited the home during the restoration work in 2017.
One can really talk about a wealth of detail when moving around in the historic house. The house contains a large ration of characteristics of functionalism, here may be mentioned the large windows and the very special corner windows of steel with vertical bars.
Dennis has done the work of painting the windows and oiling the floors with products from our assortment. Dennis runs Børge Have's Eftl. on a daily basis, and has a great insight and knowledge about Linseed Paints and other natural products that are mainly used for restoration.
Dennis has treated the oak floor in the home with our floor oil, which goes by the name satin wood oil. The windows and all other woodwork in the house have been treated with linseed paint, and the very special iron-windows have been refreshed with white linseed paint.
I exclaim with excitement: "The windows are mirror-bright!" to Dennis. It doesn 't take long for Dennis and I to determine that it's just an old saying that Linseed Paint can only be matte. Linseed paint can easily become shiny and remain with this glossy expression, which the windows are a clear proof of.
Dennis has been a great advocate in this house for getting the old and original materials back. "For me, you can avoid MI and phthalates, which abound in our homes - and why not do it? Especially when you can use natural products and demonstrate that they are as strong as the modern products.”
The building with garden and garden walls was listed in 1987 and is considered an icon for Arne Jacobsen's international period. It is Arne Jacobsen's first example of a building inspired by international functionalism, and we are pleased to be able to help take care of the building through natural products made according to old traditions.
