Reduced Chemicals

The recipe is actually quite simple when it comes to avoiding harmful modern additives. Our products are based on a few natural raw materials and are made using centuries-old methods, where colour pigments are ground in oil on a roller and transformed into the smoothest paste. It takes time, requires experience and good physical condition, but the result is worth it: simple, honest products of the highest quality with minimal chemistry. The individual products' CO2 impact is shown in their EPD-calculations.

Handheld service

Regardless of the size of your project, and whether you are a beginner or experienced, it is a heartfelt mission for us to guide you to ensure you have a good experience. For this reason, we have generally chosen to avoid retailers. We love the dialogue about colour selection and delicate brush strokes, helping with the challenges you might encounter along the way – and going into detail about restoration and maintenance. We are as passionate as we are straightforward because our products are suitable for many things, but not everything. Write, call, or drop by! We are also happy to guide you through our many instructional videos.

Extended Lifespan

All production leaves an impact on the world, and therefore it is crucial for us that our products significantly extend the lifespan of the materials they are applied to. For example, a wooden window not only renews its strength and beauty in the present but can also breathe, which helps to prevent rot in the long term. Additionally, with an economical, well-formulated linseed oil product, long re-treatment intervals are achieved, which also helps to reduce the consumption of precious resources.

Historically based

We take pride in continuing a traditional craft that has proven to be highly meaningful throughout cultural history. Linseed oil has been used in construction work since the 18th century, while the use of pigments dates back to the time of cave paintings. We follow recipes that can be traced back to 1928, inherited from our predecessors, the family behind Holmboe Farver, and enriched with knowledge gathered from old books and many years of practical experience in a modern context.

After your desires

We are not only passionate about creating honest handcrafted products but also about customizing them. Our production is so hands-on that we can tailor a product to your needs and preferences. Perhaps you have specific preferences regarding environmental friendliness, and if you can tolerate a slightly longer drying time, we can omit adding driers to your paint. We can mix it lean, fat, or half-fat, and we can add more or less oil or incorporate varnish, depending on what suits your project best. Reach out, tell us your needs, and let us provide guidance and inspiration.
