Product information

Satin Wood Oil is an indoor linseed oil product for colouring and saturating untreated wood, concrete, cork, and other absorbent materials. Satin Wood Oil has a high durability in use, which makes the product suitable for use on floors and furniture. Anyone can use Satin Wood Oil, but it requires good groundwork and several sample blocks to modify the technique. Working with Satin Wood Oil is very simple but be aware that Satin Wood Oil can vary according to technique and your choice of wood. The wood will absorb the oils differently depending on the type therefore it is important to test this before the final oiling work begins. Some colours work better on certain types of wood, while a type of wood such as douglas is great for all colours. We prefer to use oak, douglas fir, birch, ash, and pine for oiling with Satin Wood Oil.

We always recommend applying two coats of oil to surfaces to achieve the best possible protection against grease and dirt. However, you may manage with just a single application on surfaces that are more sheltered and where there are no requirements for durability or resistance to grease and dirt (please note that some of our highly pigmented colours may transfer).

If the oils are to be used for commercial purposes, you should always consider whether surfaces ought to be treated with some form of topcoat. In this segment, maintenance intervals are often long or almost non-existent, which makes it advantageous to apply one or more additional protective layers of varnish or a similar product to the cured surface. This will also ensure optimal protection against pigment transfer onto clothing, etc. If a topcoat is to be applied, you can save time by applying only one coat of oil, as you will not have to wait as many days before applying the topcoat as you would if two coats had been used. If you are unsure when a topcoat should be used, which type is suitable, or if you have any questions at all, you are always very welcome to contact us – we will be happy to guide you :-)

When applying two coats of Satin Wood Oil, one litre of the product will cover approximately 10 m² of finished surface. If only one coat is applied, one litre will cover approximately 15 m² of finished surface.
